Color Psychology: Guide to Branding for Startups

Color is the most effective element of branding, especially, for the new business owners as they need to have guaranteed results for initial profitable sales. Branding is dependent upon the kind of color schemes chosen for the dynamic advancement of business. Color choices in small scale businesses are significant in regards to their promotion. Every color carries a meaning; therefore, it is crucial that before making a color choice, a careful consideration of the connotations of color is made. For instance, yellow is the color for spontaneity, whereas, orange represents exoticism. Similarly, black is the color for elegance and Blue sets the image of intelligence in the customers mind. Apart from communicating the meaning, color also has an impact on consumer behavior. In the beverage industry, green color is used for branding because it stimulates thirst. However, if you want your customer to make quick purchases yellow would be a more suitable choice.

Big market brands like Coke, Apple, Windows, NexTag, and CITI, etc. rely on choosing color tones according to their industry. It is crucial for small business owners to do a market research and explore the hues more effective and suitable for their industry. These colors empower consumer choices on products; however, they also affect their buying behavior. Apart from representing elegance, ‘black’ color also signifies power; therefore, it is mostly used in luxury products. Additionally, businesses also require cross examining of the visual effectiveness of colors in multiple devices. It has been observed that purples look more like dark blues on screens, whereas yellow looks faded. However, red, blue and black are more techno friendly colors considered safe for display.
