Recognize Outstanding Achievements in Canadian Entrepreneurship!

Startup Canada is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Startup Canada Awards.  Help us put the national spotlight on the individuals and organizations that are driving impact in Canada

If you or someone you know is making Canada a better place to start and grow a business, whether it be through their support and promotion of entrepreneurship, or through their leadership as game-changing entrepreneurs, nominate them for the Startup Canada Awards!

Past recipients of the Startup Canada Awards include the Hon. Paul Martin, founder of the Capital for Aboriginal Prosperity and Entrepreneurship (CAPE) Fund, menswear brand Frank and Oak, Natalie Dakers, President & CEO of Accel-Rx Health Sciences Accelerator and Iain Klugman, CEO of Communitech.

Three Things You Need To Know:

1) The Award Categories

In the third year of the program, Startup Canada has added six new awards for a total of 16 awards in four categories (see below):

Advancing the Environment and Culture for Entrepreneurship in Canada

  • Startup Canada Entrepreneur Promotion Award
  • Startup Canada Entrepreneur Support Award
  • Startup Canada Community of the Year Award
  • Startup Canada Pulicy Prize

Entrepreneur-Led Businesses Demonstrating Excellence

  • Startup Canada Global Entrepreneurship Award
  • Startup Canada Innovation Aawrd
  • Startup Canada Social Enterprise Award
  • Startup Canada High Growth Entrepreneurship Award

Entrepreneurs Who Embody the Spirit of Entrepreneurship

  • Startup Canada Entrepreneur of the Year Award
  • Startup Canada Woman Entrepreneur Award
  • Startup Canada Young Entrepreneur Award
  • Startup Canada Senior Entrepreneur Award
  • Startup Canada Indigenous Entrepreneur Award (National Only)
  • Startup Canada Newcomer Entrepreneur Award (National Only)
  • Startup Canada Resilient Entrepreneur Award (National Only)

Outstanding Impact and Enduring Legacy in Canadian Entrepreneurship

2) Nomination Deadline

The Nomination deadline is July 20, 2016 at 11:59:59 pm ET.  Individuals and organizations can self-nominate or nominate someone else for the Startup Canada Awards.

3) Red Carpet Events

Regional award winners will be announced at grassroots startup events across Canada this fall, with the grand finale taking place in Toronto in November 2016. The complete list of awards and criteria can be found at
